[16:38]<Mulreay> Howdy doodly doo
[17:31]<@jacky> Mulreay: No
[17:31]<@jacky> >g<
[17:57]<Mulreay> Too cruel
[18:00]<@jacky> heh
[18:04]<Mulreay> How goes it buddy?
[18:10]<@jacky> hanging in
[18:10]<@jacky> you?
[18:10]<@jacky> we had snow, but got lucky. It melted the next day... no serious driving problems, in my area. Other areas... big trouble
[18:11]<@jacky> windy and miserable today. But supposed to be way above avg for something like 3 days.. Sun, Mon, Tues.
[18:11]<@jacky> I dread winter... am looking forward to April 1. heh
[18:13]<Mulreay> Well it was cold the other day, I mean it is January after all. Today though was the worst as I over dressed and felt a bit sweaty. 21c 70f today very hot when the Sun was beating you in the face. Had to wear my sunglasses, Life is cruel.
[18:14]<@jacky> 70 ??
[18:14]<@jacky> where are you?
[18:14]<@jacky> doesn't sound like England to me....
[18:14]<@jacky> heh
[18:15]<Mulreay> I've lived in Malta for the past year and four months
[18:15]<Mulreay> That's how long it's been since we chatted :-p
[18:18]<@jacky> No.. that sounds familiar, now that you've said it
[18:18]<@jacky> I get stuck like that. I'll still be thinking England, 10 years from now
[18:18]<@jacky> heh
[18:19]<Mulreay> Lol, it has been a LONG time. I've met, been and lost friends in that time.
[18:20]<@jacky> so.. is it a permanent move?
[18:20]<@jacky> are you there for some project?
[18:20]<@jacky> I can't remember.. if you ever told me.. sorry
[18:21]<Mulreay> Permanent is such a strong word. Canada could be on the cards at some point.
[18:21]<@jacky> har
[18:21]<@jacky> you will freeze your a** off
[18:21]<Mulreay> I'm working here, enjoying the sun, ladies and the food.
[18:21]<@jacky> I didn't realize that Malta was far enough south to make such a huge difference
[18:22]<Mulreay> Inbetween Italy and Africa, yeah it gets warm
[18:22]<@jacky> Been to Italy? Been to the continent of Africa ?
[18:22]<Mulreay> Summer we average about 38-40c a day
[18:23]<@jacky> !g 40C in F =
[18:23]<@jacky> ouch
[18:23]<@jacky> and I bet it is humid too, being surrounded by water
[18:24]<Mulreay> Last year it hit around 49c in the Sun, but no not had chance to go to Italy and have no interest in Africa
[18:24]<Mulreay> During Summer it's stays steady at about 90 to 100% humidity
[18:25]<Mulreay> !g 49C in F =
[18:25]<@jacky> I guess you can get used to anything... whew
[18:25]<@jacky> I'd pass out
[18:26]<Mulreay> It was rough, couldn't sleep
[18:26]<@jacky> That part of Africa that is closest, might be dangerous
[18:26]<Mulreay> Hence me not going
[18:27]<@jacky> heh
[18:29]<Mulreay> I will upload some photos to my website so you can have a look at where I live buddy
[18:31]<@jacky> ok
[18:33]<Mulreay> Completely forgot how to computer then for a second, was looking for my 'pictures folder' and was totally lost staring at the screen.
[18:35]<@jacky> no rush... don't worry about it
[18:35]<@jacky> heh
[18:45]<Mulreay> http://www.mulreay.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/PIC-IRC-Remove.rar
[18:47]<Mulreay> Let me know when you downloaded as I will block the downloads after that
[18:48]<Mulreay> I forget sometimes to say Jacky to raise your attention
[18:48]<@jacky> ok
[18:49]<@jacky> trying now
[18:55]<@jacky> ok. got it
[18:56]<Mulreay> OK no longer downloadable.
[18:57]<@jacky> looks like a vacation spot
[18:57]<@jacky> heh
[18:57]<Mulreay> I could have just PM'd you the link but that way too out of the box thinking
[18:57]<@jacky> heh
[18:58]<Mulreay> And yet I'm not on holiday, how crazy is that. Love waking up to just the sun beating on my face.
[18:58]<@jacky> you'll end up looking like an old shoe
[18:58]<@jacky> heh
[19:00]<Mulreay> I used to hate the Sun and heat but now... it's too good. You should come sit in a bar with me in St Julians and watch the ladies walk by in Summer. Life suddenly makes sense
[19:01]<@jacky> heh
[19:02]<@jacky> either the heat, the ladies, or the booze... one would surely do me in
[19:02]<Mulreay> What a way to go though
[19:02]<@jacky> yeah
[19:03]<@jacky> it would take two undertakers a week and a half, to get the grin off my face, so I'd look right, there in the coffin
[19:03]<Mulreay> You will be warm, drunk and staring at scantily clad ladies. In your sleep is over rated
[19:04]<@jacky> heh
[19:04]<@jacky> phone sorry
[19:04]<Mulreay> Later bud
[19:33] * Calum (Calum@mib-1A0D3BF4.plus.com) has joined #glitchpc
[19:33] * ChanServ sets mode: +o Calum
[19:38]<Mulreay> Hey Calum
[19:38]<@Calum> Hey Mulreay
[19:43]<Mulreay> See, that's all that was needed. A wealth of intrigue, knowledge and experience shared with just two words. You kids could learn something here.
[19:43]<@Calum> :)
[19:44]<@Calum> How goes it?
[19:44]<Mulreay> Stick to the code
[19:44]<@Calum> Heh
[19:45]<Mulreay> But apart from that I'm good Calum, you?
[19:46]<@Calum> Pretty good here
[19:47]<Mulreay> How's the car?
[19:47]<@Calum> It drives
[19:47]<@Calum> Heh
[19:47]<@Calum> It currently drives many many miles because of work and it's still going, so can't complain
[19:54]<Mulreay> Nice
[19:55]<@Calum> Everyone at work thinks I need to replace it because it's the oldest car in the car park by quite some margin which is incentivizing me not to do that
[20:00]<Mulreay> I would agree
[20:04]<@Calum> Not that we're contrary or anything
[20:12]<@BC_Programming> peeeps!
[20:15]<Mulreay> Who the feck woke him up??!??
[20:15]<@BC_Programming> nobody I just noticed mIRC being all flashy and shit
[20:16]<Mulreay> Always raging against the machine, so anarchy
[20:18]<@BC_Programming> in other news, I had all my wisdom teeth ripped out this past Monday, that was an experience
[20:22]<Mulreay> I saw your post on Facebook, I'm too old to have mine taken out as my wisdom is fully ingrained. But I I bet it hurt like hell
[20:26]<@BC_Programming> well I was knocked out for it so there was that
[20:32]<Mulreay> There are far too many reasons to be knocked out, talking to a relative, spending money on a partner, talking about religion, looking for your keys and waiting for something. I swear unconsciousness is underrated.
[20:34]<Quantos> Amen
[20:34]<@BC_Programming> Talking toasters
[20:35]<Mulreay> Would you like some toast?
[20:36]<@BC_Programming> no
[20:36]<Mulreay> Waffle?
[20:38]<Mulreay> Crumpet?
[20:39]<Mulreay> Tea cake
[20:39]<@BC_Programming> heh
[20:49]<+camerongray> WOOO, MULREAY!
[20:49]<+camerongray> Oh, and BC, you too
[20:49]<@BC_Programming> Forgot Jacky as usual
[20:49]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, and Calum
[20:49]<+camerongray> Full house"
[20:49]<@Calum> Hello :)
[20:50]<+camerongray> How's things?
[20:50]<@Calum> Pretty good here, yourself?
[20:50]<+camerongray> Really good yeah
[20:51]<+camerongray> Got a new toy! http://www.serversdirect.co.uk/fujitsu-primergy-intel-xeon-e3-1226v3-2-x-8gb-2-x-1tb-hard-drive-lff-tower-vfyt1311sx190gb/version.asp
[20:52]<+camerongray> When you factor in VAT it comes to £350 after cashback
[20:52]<@Calum> Ahh, nice
[20:52]<@BC_Programming> haha
[20:54]<@Calum> I just picked up a bargain today as well actually - was cruising the OcUK B-Grade and saw 2 X99-SLI boards in for £60, I snapped those up :)
[20:55]<+camerongray> oh wow, that's decent :P
[20:55]<+camerongray> I feel like I should upgrade my PC at some point
[20:55]<@Calum> It is, considering I paid double that for my current X99-UD4....
[20:55]<@BC_Programming> do you need to play the latest sack gaemes?
[20:56]<@Calum> Going to use one to replace my Dell dual 1366 system and use it as an ESXi host
[20:57]<+camerongray> Nice! Still running a bunch of servers at home then?
[20:58]<@Calum> I just have a Dell workstation in the other room for heating, and my 14 core Xeon in my main PC heh
[20:58]<+camerongray> haha
[20:58]<+camerongray> Wait,what chip is that?
[20:59]<@Calum> E5-2683v3
[20:59]<+camerongray> oh wow, nice!
[20:59]<@Calum> *cough* it might be an ES *cough*
[20:59]<+camerongray> hahaha
[21:00]<+camerongray> Cheap eBay one from china?
[21:00]<Quantos> Holy shit, you could run VM's on that til you're blue in the face
[21:00]<@Calum> I don't know whether to get another of the same for this ESXi host or not, probably will
[21:00]<@Calum> Yeah, £300 - compared it to a 5820K for the same price and just thought, why not
[21:00]<+camerongray> oh wow yeah
[21:01]<@Calum> I've been eyeing up a Samsung 951 for £170 as well
[21:01]<@Calum> 512GB
[21:01]<@Calum> might be able to get a bit of cheeky discount as it's also b-grade
[21:01]<+camerongray> Yeah
[21:01]<+camerongray> Not sure when I'll upgrade my PC next
[21:01]<@Calum> Well, if you want a cheap X99 board....
[21:01]<+camerongray> haha
[21:01]<+camerongray> I'll wait a while, current one is fine
[21:02]<+camerongray> There's literally nothing I do that would need more :P
[21:02]<@Calum> Yeah, to be fair there's not much that makes you go "wow" from the last couple of years
[21:02]<@Calum> anyone on Sandy bridge is usually wasting money by upgrading
[21:02]<+camerongray> Yeah, the 3770k is still more than sufficient
[21:03]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, didn't tell you about my eBay bargain
[21:03]<@Calum> oh?
[21:04]<+camerongray> Saw a PC listed for £10 as "Host/Home Computer" and was described as not working so thought I'd buy it for a laugh. PSU was a WinPower which had obviously exploded and the motherboard let out magic smoke but in the end I got a AMD FX-4300, 4gb stick of RAM, 320gb HDD, ASUS GeForce 210 and a Corsair Force LS 60gb SSD
[21:05]<@Calum> Hah, that's pretty good!
[21:06]<@BC_Programming> I liked that Video
[21:06]<+camerongray> Ahh yeah, I filmed it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke3amJsfcog
[21:06]<+camerongray> Have a couple of videos on the camera of the new server to edit as well but Linux video editors are horrible
[21:07]<@Calum> 27 minutes? u wot
[21:07]<+camerongray> I didn't really edit much :P
[21:07]<+camerongray> Such as it blowing up
[21:08]<+camerongray> Which was very much a case of "Why's it not turning on? Oh god there's smoke!"
[21:08]<@Calum> Hah, I'll give it a watch shortly
[21:08]<Quantos> Not the 'Magical Blue Smoke'?
[21:08]<+camerongray> Oh yeah, and you'll see the best packaging job I've ever seen on a PC
[21:08]<+camerongray> It clearly came out in one piece
[21:11] * Mulreay (Mibbit@mib-57430A06.i07-9.onvol.net) Quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
[21:15]<+camerongray> It was one of the caps on the 5vsb rail that blew up
[21:16]<+camerongray> Replaced it but it still won't power up (Although the new cap didn't explode)
[21:16]<+camerongray> Although the 5vsb rail does work now sice the USB ports get power
[21:16] * Calum (Calum@mib-1A0D3BF4.plus.com) Quit (Ping timeout: 180 seconds)
[21:58]<Quantos> That's strange
[21:58]<Quantos> If you replace the faulty part it should work, unless it damaged something else when it blew
[21:59]<Quantos> But there should be evidence of that wouldn't there?
[21:59]<+camerongray> Yeah, it's strange
[21:59]<+camerongray> Unless it's damaged some chip somewhere that wouldn't look broken
[22:00]<Quantos> Well, what I remember of Cap's is that they hold a charge for a very long time, could it have had a mini powersurge when it blew?
[22:00]<+camerongray> Nah, not in a tiny cap like that
[22:00]<Quantos> Iknow the electronics is different than a car coil
[22:00]<Quantos> Yeah, that's true
[22:00]<+camerongray> I think the PSU blew up and killed several bits of the board, the cap included
[22:01]<+camerongray> It's just that the cap is the one part you can see is broken
[22:01]<Quantos> OH, I thought you meant the cap was in the PSU
[22:01]<+camerongray> Nah, that was on the board
[22:01]<Quantos> I'm a tad bit on the slow side today
[22:01]<+camerongray> BUt the PSU had blown as well
[22:01]<Quantos> Oh
[22:01]<Quantos> That reminds me of this time I was doing sound for a concert
[22:02]<Quantos> A fuse failed and I wound up putting power through the sound boards ground loop
[22:03]<Quantos> It was just a little gig in a hall, so it was more entertaining than anything
[22:04]<Quantos> Most of the components in the board looked okay, but I couldn't get it to work again no matter who tried to fix it
[22:05]<Quantos> Was it an expensive board?
[22:05]<Quantos> Your mobo I mean
[22:17]<+camerongray> Nah, just a cheap gigabyte one
[22:20]<Quantos> Oh okay, it still sucks wasting money though
[22:26]<Quantos> Hey, I'm trying to figure something out, I'm not sure on my math though
[22:26]<@BC_Programming> 42
[22:26]<Quantos> Damn
[22:26]<Quantos> That's so obvious now ;)
[22:27]<Quantos> I've been trying to find out what the maximum sized PSU is we can run on 110V AC
[22:27]<Quantos> I know SuperFlower makes a 2000W Leadex, but the biggest I can find for sale here is a 1600W
[22:28]<Quantos> I don't need anything anywhere near that
[22:28]<Quantos> It's just curiosity
[22:29]<Quantos> Can we actually run a 2000W or would that have to pigtailed into three phase?
[22:29]<Quantos> to *be* pigtailed...
[22:30]<@BC_Programming> max power draw for a circuit is usually 15-20 amps, so 2300W? Of course assuming nothing else on the circuit I guess
[22:50]<+camerongray> Yeah, you can do that fine
[22:50]<+camerongray> In the UK 2000W would be 8.3A - A UK Plug can go up to 13A
[23:37]<Quantos> Okay
[23:38]<Quantos> So the reason I may not have been able to find anything on the Leadex 2000 is that it just may not be available in Canada
[23:38]<Quantos> I mean I can get the specs, but couldn't find availability
[23:39]<Quantos> I thought it was our distribution system
[23:51]<+camerongray> Ugh, Linux video editing is so bad
